Ninjas colouring book

On recent days selling my books face-to-face at markets and fairs, the one book which kids, both boys and girls, asked for was Ninjas! As a result, I have just published this Colouring book for kids – ninjas.

I set about drawing ninjas in various scenes and poses. Researching took quite a bit of time. I saw various ninja books on sale on Amazon, but despite having different covers by different authors, the contents looked the same. Maybe they have sourced their images from a stock library.

Fortunately, being able to draw, I was able to come up with my own scenarios. So I set about creating the fifty images which I felt would stir up the creativity of the kids. When I was a  kid, I loved colouring books. As I did them, I made up stories and blurted out appropriate sounds. Even as an adult, I was doing this while creating these images. I guess it never leaves our imagination. My hope is these images bring out the same feelings and imagination for the kids how use my books.

Timescale

Although it’s a slow process, I get great satisfaction in drawing. These images took just over a month in total. The first thing is coming up with the scenarios with pencil and paper. Once they are complete, I photograph them and send them to my computer. From there, I import them to my drawing program and use them as a template. It’s quite a laborious process, but it’s one which works for me. Once they are all done, it’s a matter of selecting a ninja image to be on the front cover. As a result, I colour one in digitally rather than by coloured pencils. This gives a better reproduction when printed.

I hope you like the images here. Kids will be engaged with them and hopefully enjoy many hours of colouring. You can view it further on Amazon here: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0B5KQKQ2X

Open Day

I had a great time at the Aylesbury Tennis Club Open Day. There was a slight breeze, so putting up the gazebo was interesting. One of the canvas walls was needed to stop the wind circling in and blowing over the books on the table. This was a tennis fun day open to the public. The aim was to let them try tennis for free to see if they enjoyed it. All the kids had a great time with coaching sessions provided by JWT. Adults could have a go too, even if they had never picked up a racket before.

Fortunately, we didn’t get any rain and the sun shone through on the packed tennis courts. There was a constant stream of families coming in due to the half hour coaching slots. This was great for me as they came to my table to look at the books on offer.

My table

I am creating books all the time. The ones on show were for toddlers and kids as well as a colouring book for adults. I plan to create more books for adult’s mental wellbeing. The unicorn colouring book was a particular favourite. I was also pleased that everyone agreed to join my email list so I can keep them informed when my future books are published. I was able to display a variety of my books. These included colouring books for toddlers and kids, as well as dot to dot books. There were various notebooks, sheet music and exercise books for school and college work as well.

The big day

After a couple of weeks preparing everything, I went to the Picnic in the Park event being held in Weston Turville, Aylesbury. The weather was kind although a little breezy. However, the gazebo managed to stay rooted to the spot despite a couple of heavy gusts!

This was my first time of selling face-to-face to the public. I had bought the gazebo, a supply of my books and a card reader. It worked perfectly taking payments from various credit and debit cards including Google Pay on people’s phones.

Fortunately after a dull start, the clouds lifted and we had sunshine, no rain, which helped proceedings. I was lucky enough to meet our local MP Mr Rob Butler. He kindly agreed to have his photo taken alongside myself and my sister Yvonne. It was a pleasure meeting and having a little chat with him.

This event was supported by many other stall holders and organisations. It was my first experience of being on the other side of the table. Definitely a new experience for me. I really enjoyed having people coming up to my stall and buying my books. It was also nice that they gave me their email addresses. I can now keep them informed of what was in the pipeline and when new books are published.

My table

I was able to display a variety of my books. These included colouring books for toddlers and kids, as well as dot to dot books. Also colouring books for adults for stress relief and mental wellbeing. There were various notebooks and exercise books for school and college work as well.

I am always working on new titles to expand  the range of books to all ages. At the moment, I am putting together a 50 image ninja colouring book. This will be followed by a book for the older kids in us featuring ‘things that fly’. Hopefully these books will be published and available in the very near future.

I couldn’t have attended this event without help. Therefore, I would like to thank my sister Yvonne and brother-in-law Ken for their amazing help in putting together this enjoyable day for me.

The icing on the cake for me was a display by a WWII Hurricane at RAF Halton. Coming from an RAF family, it was fantastic hearing and seeing this amazing plane against the blue skies.

All toddlers love to draw and colour things in. This colouring book for toddlers has lots of cute animals to fire their imagination and keep them busy. I’ve drawn all the images with simple thick lines. The major items within the drawings have large spaces for your child to really get in there and add lots of colour. The names are at the bottom which can also be coloured in.

There’s 50 images in total which will keep your child involved. The backs of them are left blank to allow for possible ink bleeding through. It may be an idea to put a plain piece of paper behind the page before colouring in, just to be on the safe side.

With this colouring book for toddlers, I hope your child really enjoys the experience of using this book. It is the third in the series.

Please leave a review if you have time, it will help me enormously as a sole designer, illustrator and publisher.
