Famous iconic aircraft to colour in
I grew up on RAF bases and was constantly surrounded by the sights and sounds of planes. I love drawing them, as a result I’ve created this aviation colouring book for you to enjoy them too. It is perfect for anyone interested in planes and aviation in general. It is primarily aimed at older children, teens and adults. The book is intended as a form of relaxation to help with personal mental wellbeing. At the same time, it is perfect for any aviation enthusiast who simply loves aircraft as much as I do.
This book shows iconic civilian and military machines which have eventually sent man and imagination to the moon and stars. General dates are showed alongside the name of when the aircraft were introduced, went into production or flew a special event in history. From the simple machines of the early flying pioneers, you’ll see the development of aviation over time.
World War aircraft development
Two world wars gave rise to the fastest development and innovation of aircraft design. I’ve included the most classic British, German and American planes. They are portrayed in detail to give you hours of fun and relaxation colouring them in to your heart’s content. You can look them up on the internet to see their actual colour schemes to accurately colour them, or simply let your colouring imagination run wild, it’s up to you. Some will really test your skills, especially the last image which I call the ‘Changi Challenge’.
There are 50 images of triplanes, biplanes, monoplanes, jets and spacecraft to enjoy hours of relaxation colouring them in. From the time of Leonardo da Vinci’s sketched ideas of flying machines, man has strived to conquer the air and to see what’s out there.
Colouring in
Coloured pencils are recommended for their accuracy, but you can use whatever medium you want. Although some look quite detailed, they can be filled in with general washes and blends of colour, the details will then really bring the planes to life.
I’ve drawn them at dynamic angles so they fill the page with plenty of areas to colour in. Feel free to add more clouds or other details if you want to. They appear on alternate pages so as not to spoil the next image if ink bleeds through the page. It’s always a good idea to place a sheet of paper behind the one you are colouring for that extra protection.
